Camilla Veale

Crew

Camilla 53, lives with her civil partner Addie and dog Freckles in Leeds, UK. She currently runs her own business www.camillaveale.co.uk which offers careers advice, coaching and disability equality training.

Camilla first sailed in Hong Kong on her father’s junk, was a member of the Ocean Youth Trust in the UK and did some dingy sailing in her 20s and 30s. It was only after being diagnosed with MS in 1998 that she became serious about her sailing taking part in ‘Multiple Challenge’ the UK MS Society’s sailing project.

Finding that sailing gave her the sense of freedom and excitement she craved, Camilla has gone on to gain her RYA Yachtmaster theory and Coastal Skipper qualifications. In 2002 she gained Bluewater sailing experience by crossing the Coral Sea from Australia to Papua New Guinea.

Oceans of Hope will fulfil Camilla’s ambition of sharing a circumnavigation of the world with other sailors with disabilities.
