Emil Koch

Crew

Emil Koch, 59, has been active in business for close to 30 years. His was educated as a maritime engineer, which lead to service in the Merchant Navy and Royal Navy for some years. He went on to receive degrees in economics and management. For the last 14 years Emil has run his own company, ESS, designing and selling equipment to the plastic industry.

Emil has three grown children and four grandchildren from ages one to nine. He enjoys practicing humor and being open minded in all senses. Although he does not play an instrument, music is part of his life and Emil is a base singer in his local church chorus covering everything from Elvis Presley to Bach.

Emil has been living with MS since 2007. He considers himself extremely lucky since he feels he has had limited impact from MS until now. He lives with his girlfriend Birgit.

Emil owns an old 42 foot yawl Doreana (who he calls his mistress) designed by Bruce Bingham and build in Denmark. He does tours onboard Doreana with young people ages 13-17 around Denmark, which he describes as a very rewarding experience.

In his own words:

“I love sailing myself, but I very much look forward to join Oceans of Hope where I hope I can help all crew members to have their most fantastic tour at all times. Lucky again.”
