Gary lives in Ashford, Kent, with his wife, four older children and three girls in their care. He retired as a teacher of Economics on health grounds two years ago and currently volunteers making videos of looked-after children for prospective adoptive parents to see.
Gary enjoys travel and recently he and his family visited Kenya where he started his teaching career. Since a teenager he has been a live rock music fan and feels privileged to have seen a number of iconic artists and continues to attend festivals. His sailing experience is pretty much racing small dinghies on a lake so he is anticipating a rude awakening, but feels honoured to be selected to crew on Oceans of Hope's epic voyage. "Hopefully I can inspire others with MS to aim high, rise to a challenge and achieve their full potential", he said.
