Iben Skydt

Crew

Iben Skydt, 51, lives with her husband in Glamsbjerg on the island Fyn in Denmark. She has two grown children. Iben was diagnosed with MS in November, 2012 but she is quite sure she has had MS since 2006 when she started having sensory issues in her wrist.

Iben’s job has changed a lot since she was diagnosed with MS, although she is very happy she can still work 10 hours a week. Her biggest challenge is the fatigue and that is one of her concerns for the sailing experience onboard Oceans of Hope.

Iben used to sail a lot, but for the last few years she has not done any sailing. In her own words:

“I love the feeling of the wind, the sea, looking at the sky and just feeling the power of Mother Nature. My expectations for the trip with Oceans of Hope are that I will be challenged both physically and mentally but it will also be a dream come true and an experience for life and a reminder that I can still challenge myself and push my limits. I am so proud and grateful to be a part of this amazing project showing the world that even though you have MS you are still able to fulfill your dreams.”
