Jacob is a retired Merchant Marine Officer and has spent half his time on the water. He is excited to sail with the OOH crew 8 from Sydney to Cairns and to explore the Great Barrier Reef.
He has been married for 21 years to his lovely wife, Wendy. They share a small farm 70 miles north of Seattle, Washington, USA. They also have a home in Costa Rica where they have lived four months out of the year for the past 27 years.
Jacob was diagnosed with MS in 2004 and as he says, "it's not how I planned my retirement. It has limited my ability to walk and run, especially hiking in the mountains. Wendy and I have enjoyed foraging for edibles in the woods, hunting, fishing and gardening at home. We are learning to compensate for my disabilities."
On the OOH voyage Jacob hopes to share his maritime experience with his fellow crew members and to learn from new friends and new parts of the world. "I am blessed to be sailing with you and all the opportunities it will provide," he says.
