OoH Taking place July 3, 2014, Portsmouth, UK

A city with a rich maritime history

Oceans of Hope will be berthed at Gunwharf Quays, once the Royal Navy’s armoury, now a busy outlet shopping centre with bars, restaurants and cinema surrounding the marina, which has direct access to the Solent, the heart of sailing in the UK. The views from Spinnaker Tower, next to Oceans of Hope’s berth, are spectacular.

Gunwharf Quays’ official charity for 2014 is the MS Society.

History buffs will be fascinated by the Historic Dockyard, home to Admiral Lord Nelson’s ship, HMS Victory, and the remains of King Henry VIII’s flagship, the Mary Rose; while fans of literature can wander around Old Portsmouth, birthplace of the writer Charles Dickens.

Oceans of Hope will be organising an event on Friday 4 July for people with MS to come and try sailing.
