Ship shape for Portsmouth arrival
Oceans of Hope is preparing for her grand arrival in Portsmouth tomorrow afternoon.
The yacht, which is undertaking the first global circumnavigation by a working crew of people with multiple sclerosis, will arrive at Gunwharf Quays at 3pm local time.
The crew are looking forward to visiting some of the sights Portsmouth has to offer, including the a visit to the Royal Navy Historic Dockyard, home to Admiral Lord Nelson’s ship HMS Victory, and a visit to Spinnaker Tower, from which offers spectacular views across England’s south coast, the Isle of Wight and out into the English Channel.
There are still a few places available for people with MS to enjoy a free sailing taster session, courtesy of the Oceans of Hope project on Friday. The sessions are at 10am and 2pm and there will be a picnic lunch on board in between the two.
If you would like to take advantage of one of these free sailing sessions please email corinne.lockwood@seagrassuk.com to reserve your place.
On Sunday 6 July Oceans of Hope will leave Portsmouth at midday to sail to La Rochelle on the west coast of France.
