Change of course

OoH Aug 20, 2014, by Oceans of Hope News team in Yacht

A couple of days ago the crew of Oceans of Hope mentioned that they were planning a surprise.

“What is it?” We wanted to know. Spill the beans, crew!

Well, they have sworn us to secrecy but we can tell you that all will be revealed when they reach Bermuda. In the meantime the crew are dropping clues into their blogs. It’s Mikkel Farver’s turn today.

All good things come to those who wait…

Back to the serious business of sailing and Oceans of Hope continues to eat up the miles on the first transatlantic crossing of this historic global circumnavigation to change the perceptions of MS.

They have been beset by light winds for the last couple of days so a slight change of course is in order, as Bertram Christensen explains.

“As of the latest weather reports we have started heading slightly more southwards, steering a course of 260 degrees to reach a more southern latitude with better winds. We are currently 930 nautical miles from Bermuda as we have reached the tenth day at sea with no land in sight.

“Yesterday we had our first real rain shower lasting just about 45 minutes – giving everyone the opportunity of a rare fresh water shower, while we took advantage of the wind that comes with the squalls and sailed for almost an hour for the first time in over two days!”
