Oceans of Hope due to arrive in Boston today
Oceans of Hope set sail from Lisbon, Portugal, to cross the Atlantic Ocean on 2 August. Today the crew of people with multiple sclerosis who have demonstrated hat can be done when those with a chronic disease are empowered to overcome their own personal challenges, will arrive in Boston, USA.
Oceans of Hope is due to arrive at 1.30pm at the Marina at Rowes Wharf in downtown Boston.
Before the crew set sail from Lisbon 37 days ago, the Portuguese Member of Parliament Dr Ricardo Baptista Leite said, “It was from Lisbon that our Portuguese ancestors left to discover the new world and what they did back in the 15th and 16th Centuries was to confront themselves with the boundaries of the normal world at the time. They didn’t know what exists beyond that. And what people with MS are doing, being part of this crew, is actually confronting their own barriers, the barriers within themselves, showing that they can go beyond and that they can do whatever they want.”
Today they will complete their voyage from the 'old world' to the new, having explored new horizons and inspired others to do the same.
