Oceans of Hope in Newport, Rhode Island
Oceans of Hope and her crew arrived at the Newport Shipyard at 1730hrs local time on Thursday evening after a windless delivery trip from Boston. The engine was given a good workout and is now ready for its second service of the circumnavigation. The delivery proved to be a very easy one and en route the crew compiled a detailed list of maintenance work to be carried out at the Newport Shipyard during the coming weeks.
All the onboard systems will be serviced, including the sails and rigging, during this scheduled maintenance period – local engineers, riggers and sail makers have already been aboard and started the work. An offshore yacht is a complex machine and in order to achieve reliability at sea it is essential to keep everything serviced and checked. A new MS crew is preparing to join Oceans of Hope on October 20th in Newport when she will turn her bow south and head down the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S. The next large market visit for the yacht and crew will be New York City from November 11-16.
