Looking Ahead to Fort Lauderdale

From the event: "Fort Lauderdale, USA"

As temperatures drop and a brisk chill sets in across the northern United States in December, Oceans of Hope will be arriving to the sunny, warm beaches of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Embraced by the Atlantic Ocean, New River and dozens of scenic inland waterways, Fort Lauderdale is blessed with more than 3,000 hours of sunshine each year.

The Oceans of Hope crew will likely welcome the warmer waters, after visiting Newport in October and New York City in November. We may even get Jens out for that American football experience he has been dreaming of, when the Florida Panthers take on the Columbus Blue Jackets December 4th!

The visit to Fort Lauderdale is scheduled for December 3-8, with MS patient sailing days on December 5 and 6. We are working with MS patient advocacy groups who serve the regional community and offer the unique Oceans of Hope sailing experience to dozens of MS patients locally. Applications for these taster sails can be made to us directly at sailingdays@sailingsclerosis.com. The Oceans of Hope crew will also be visiting a Fort Lauderdale MS patient care center during the stopover.

Docked at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center, home to the world-renowned Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Oceans of Hope will be in the heart of Fort Lauderdale for this brief port of call before heading south once again bound for the Panama Canal and beyond.

By chance the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (MSF) is holding their annual gala event on December 6th, so if you would like to support a great cause with a mission to motivate, educate and empower those living with MS, plan an elegant night of philanthropy. View the event details here.

We shall be keeping you posted with all the news as the Oceans of Hope prepares to depart Newport, Rhode Island in a week or so, fully serviced and with a new MS crew aboard.
