Planning Ahead - Blog by Martin Borre

My name is Martin, and I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 16 years ago.

When this project was launched, I was very enthusiastic to participate! I have experienced on my own body how my mental and psychological conditions, outside of medicine, are so vital to the symptoms of my disease. I knew I had to be part of this project!

A great part of the voyage is the daily planning of our route, such as where to seek shelter from the wind and waves, or what islands contain sites and areas worth visiting. Every morning starts with unfolding a map, and discussing the currents and the wind. In general the ability to choose directions along with the crew is better than I had hoped for. The weather and the conditions yesterday made it very clear to us that careful planning is necessary. And the wind is picking up, promising us winds gale force tomorrow!
