Every Day is an Adventure! Blog by Patty and Joan
Today’s blog is a collaboration. There are so many stories to tell of our first full day on board that we are putting our thoughts together in an effort to cover all the events. It begins with the night before... Joan is due to take her medicine but the kit is different than the usual one that requires refrigeration. Even with the most brilliant and experienced minds, we are unsuccessful in our efforts to mix the medication correctly. We are convinced this was due to the moving boat.
Regrettably, this left us with almost no medication and two more weeks onboard Oceans of Hope. We were reminded again of the kindness and goodness of so many people that came to our aid. Even with the enormous challenge of replacing medication for an international patient aboard, to consultations with nurses on how to blend new medication, visits to ER's, and friends on shore agreeing to receive new shipments of meds and drive them to meet our yacht. And this was only a small part of the day. Beyond the drama of this event there was still so much more that happened.
We were unable to sail due to the rough weather conditions but it was all for the best. Some of our group were able to take in the sights of Newport including a trip to the Breakers and a walk in town. We concluded the evening with a beautiful meal of curry chicken prepared by Joan and Kaj that sadly Joan did not eat.
Every day is an adventure. We are waiting for the next!
