Oceans of Hope Farewell Florida Event

You are invited to the send-off for the Oceans of Hope yacht as it departs the USA to continue its circumnavigation

On Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center – “F Pontoon”

801 Seabreeze Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33316

10:00 a.m. Arrivals, pastries, coffee and mingling dockside

11:00 a.m. Presentation – including Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler

11:30 a.m. Departure of Oceans of Hope escorted by Shake a Leg’s Impossible Dream (an accessible catamaran)

Sailing Opportunity:

Do you live with MS? We have sailing opportunities to participate in this event.

  • Sail with Shake A Leg’s Impossible Dream from Fort Lauderdale to Miami (approximately four hours) – Impossible Dream is a fully accessible 60-foot catamaran which can accommodate wheelchairs
  • Venture out for a shorter outing on one of the spectator boats (approximately two hours)

Oceans of Hope is the first ever circumnavigation with a crew including people with multiple sclerosis. The unique voyage, organized by the Sailing Sclerosis Foundation to change perceptions of life after a diagnosis of MS, set sail from Copenhagen on June 15, 2014 and will depart Fort Lauderdale on Jan 5, 2015 as their final departure from North America. Oceans of Hope will sail on to Panama, the Galapagos, Tahiti, Australasia, and finally back to Europe for the finale of their global voyage.
