A shout-out to the Full Sails MS Walk team - Blog by Beth

OoH Apr 11, 2015, by Beth Bjerregaard in Yacht

Five years ago a good friend organized the Full Sails MS Walk team, in my honor.  The Walk is a yearly event that benefits the MS Society and our team has done well fundraising and consistently tops the leaderboard in the friendly team tent contest.

This is the first year I am not able to attend the MS Walk with the Full Sails team because I AM actually sailing, on the Oceans of Hope, a boat that is circumnavigating the globe, crewed by people that HAVE MS.  An amazing experience I never dreamed possible after my diagnosis.  I am so grateful for the opportunity.

This year the Full Sails Team combined the spirit of the MS Walk,  Sailing Sclerosis and Polynesia/Samoa with a special Logo, which they will be wearing/displaying at the walk.

Thanks to team for the warm send off and hope you have a great walk.  I'll get everyone to walk to the bow and back here...

Report from Bosun Bertram:
Changing winds and a searing sun are messing with us at the moment. Some hours we are sailing by the engine with a 2nd reef in the main to keep the big sail from slapping around in the swells, and other hours of the day the grand spinnaker is flying over the bow and the boat hopping through the waves. The weather is unpredictable, so we are playing it by ear and eating the miles any way we must while the sun is taking it's toll on the crew. Today we had the hottest day so far with leaving all of us to seek any cover from the sun we could find. Beach parasols and symmetric spinnakers were favorites.

Local time onboard is 00:30 and our current postion is 15'54.743S 160'04.029
