Locals with MS after taster sails in Cairns: Where do I sign up?

OoH Jun 22, 2015, by Oceans of Hope News team in Events

After arriving in Cairns Oceans of Hope has been sailing with local people living with MS. 18 eager short-term crew members have been out with us to sail up the river and enjoy the scenic view of mangroves in the foreground with majestic mountains as a backdrop. We left Cairns Marlin Marina on Saturday at 10:00 and 13:30 for two sails worth of two hours enjoying a bit of wind and a lot of sun. "Where do I sign up??" was the first question as we moored back up after the morning sail to have lunch with the next team.

On Wednesday Oceans of Hope will leave Cairns for Darwin, where we will once again give local people with MS the opportunity to taste the salt, the wind and the unique atmosphere that we create on board with room for empowerment and inclusion.

We would like to thank MS Australia for helping us to organise the Cairns Sailing Day, in particular their local advocate Suzanne Hadley and Andrew Giles at HQ. Whilst at Marlin Marina in Cairns we have also needed to resolve a number of mechanical issues in a very short timeframe so thanks also to Advanced Diesel Injection for sorting out the generator and to Aussie Marine for revitalising the outboard engine for the dinghy - we will now be rowing
somewhat less!

Local time onboard is 17:00 and our current position is 16,55.3S , 145,46.94E
