Disassembling Oceans of Hope - Blog by Bertram

OoH Aug 11, 2015, by Bertram Christensen in Yacht
The Sailing Yacht Oceans of Hope is currently not exactly a sailing vessel. Our latest crew were so kind as to leave the orange boat in Singapore with no sails, no forestays, no boom or not even any sheets attached! We have been disassembling our home over the last few weeks - with permission from Kristian - piece by piece to prepare her for one of the longer stretches of the circumnavigation, when Oceans of Hope is going in the hold of a cargo ship and transported to Turkey.

The last days in Singapore bid us with extreme heat and hard work, which our crew took on as a team! Maybe it was knowing that the marina pool was within range - we took the opportunity to sit in there and read aloud all the blogs since sailing the last 2000 mile leg from Darwin. A tradition from previous legs, which always is a success - no less, reading them in a cooling pool. Reliving the foregoing three weeks was a perfect break from the tough work onboard, drying out sails, rinsing and coiling ropes, and dismantling the deck hardware.

Next challenge will be putting the boat back together making Oceans of Hope a Sailing Yacht again!
