Our course is set directly on Bermuda!

The Bosun reports that the Oceans of Hope is making excellent progress after yesterday’s almost total lack of wind.  He told us, “We are now enjoying 8-9 m/s winds from north-northeast, which is pushing the boat at a pace of 8-9 knots. Our course is set directly on Bermuda, which is quite extraordinary.”

This is excellent news and whilst he acknowledges that they cannot expect to be this lucky with the wind for the whole crossing, Bertram says: "We are putting hours in the bank right now."

MS crew member and today’s Oceans of Hope blogger, Jens Thomsen, told us how the crew made the most of yesterday’s unexpected downtime by “fishing, reading or sleeping.”  This had the downside of making the crew drowsy and as a result it, “quickly turned into a day when no one felt like doing anything!”

However, those in charge of catering yesterday had a trick up their sleeves and “spirits picked when pancakes were served for lunch and Nutella were passed around the table as if we had load of the stuff to share.”

The Bosun signed off by confirming that, “spirits are high” and that Oceans of Hope is “making good speed towards our destination”.

However, the best news of all is that, “the crew is in great shape with no seasickness despite the still growing Atlantic swells.”
