From the event: "Portsmouth, UK"

Applications are being accepted for the first ever circumnavigation for a crew with multiple sclerosis (MS). Sailing Sclerosis will launch the project and the boat in Copenhagen on World MS Day on Wednesday 28 May.

This is your chance to join a global project like no other. Be part of an inspirational voyage that will challenge both the perceptions of life with MS and you to the limit. The sea does not discriminate, the voyage will be carefully managed but all crew will play an active part.

You may already be facing the biggest challenge of your life and this is the chance to find out what your body is capable of and to focus on what you can do, not what you can’t. Learn the importance of teamwork and how to share your different strengths. You will be part of an international crew sailing around the world discovering new cultures and attitudes.

Under the direction of a professional skipper and watch leader, the amateur crew with MS will play an active part on all voyages – you will be a participant not a passenger.

You need to have some prior sailing experience but you do not need to be an experienced offshore sailor and if you are selected your place in the crew will be paid for by the Sailing Sclerosis Foundation.

Departing Copenhagen in mid-June, Oceans of Hope will make a number of stopovers in Europe, including Germany, England and France before leaving Lisbon and crossing the Atlantic to Boston. The rest of the route around the globe is to be announced.

Sign up for a single voyage, combine several legs or apply for even more. To find out more about the project, required sailing experience, medical documentation and to apply for a berth, visit www.sailingsclerosis.com or email info@sailingsclerosis.com.

What are you waiting for?
