Greg Pugh

Crew

Greg Pugh, 49, lives on Stockton, an isthmus just north of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.

Greg has twin girls Sarah and Rebecca, 13 and a son Bradley, 9 that he has shared care of. Greg lives alone and has a loving girlfriend, Susan, who he met at an MS Support group.

Diagnosed with MS six years ago Greg retired from his job in heavy industry and his life just went on hold. Hearing about Oceans of Hope via Facebook he immediately made plans to resurrect his sailing life. In his younger years he successfully sailed 16’ and 18’ skiffs and also the Olympic class 49er dingy. Not having sailed on yachts he set about gaining experience at sea and since that time he has sailed more than 3000 nautical miles including competing in the world famous “Sydney to Hobart” yacht race with “Sailors with disabilities” a charity with similar objectives to Sailing Sclerosis. Greg has also started public speaking for MS Australia and several other organisations.

Greg says that life has changed forever thanks to this project and he can’t wait to join Oceans of Hope in Samoa come April.
